The Reading & Nature Trail
The Reading & Nature Trail is a trail around the campus that starts at the Really, Really, Really Old Tree by the walkers' entrance and goes around the entire school. Along the way students see a babbling brook, and the final stop is, of course, the garden. Ms. Bossler (Fourth) applied for and won a grant from Piedmont Master Gardeners to help further establish the trail. The trail currently has 9 stops at 8 various trees around the campus and one in the middle of the Octagon in the Garden. The stops are marked by mosaic stepping stones that were bought with the grant, designed by students and a BME parent, and built by the students in the Outdoor Classroom as a station during Field Day 2014. During Spring Fling 2015 a few replacement stones were made for ones that had broken during the first school year. Future plans involve a trail head sign, a trail guide, and maybe a more established trail.
